AT OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE ASSOCIATES
Random Drug and
Alcohol Testing Program
One
of the valuable services that Occupational Medicine Associates
offers is a Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Through our
company, your business can remain in compliance with the Department
of Transportation and the testing requirements. Random drug and
alcohol testing is mandatory for companies that work with the
following entities: the Federal Motor Carrier
Safety
Administration, the Federal Railroad Administration, the Federal
Aviation Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, the
Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and the
United States Coast Guard. While random testing must be followed
by those certain companies, that does not limit any other company
from participating in this program. It is an important aspect in
ensuring that your company remains drug and alcohol free.
The
random testing is run through TPA BOSS, a software program that is
approved by the Department of Transportation. Our program is quite
new and has been successful throughout the country.
Upon
signing up, your company list is entered into the program and each
employee is given a number that is assigned to only them.
Typically, this is their social security number or an employee ID
number that is assigned through the company. The numbers are drawn
at random by the computer program. Occupational Medicine Associates
then notifies your designated employer representative by mail, fax
or email of the selections. It is then up to the company to select
the date and time within the draw period to notify and send the
employee in. It is important that once the employee is notified,
they report immediately for testing. Because it is crucial that
your company stays in compliance, it is up to the designated
employer representative to maintain record of the testing, as well
as keep the employee list current with us. This will prevent the
selection of an employee that is no longer with your company. For
owner/operators or smaller companies, the option of placing your
company into a large consortium is also available. This will be
compiled of many other companies. This will ensure that your
testing will truly be random.
Included in the random program is the option of setting up
collection sites outside of our office. Many of our companies have
offices throughout the country and we are capable of finding a
certified collection site where you need it.
For
companies who are subject to audits, we offer assistance with this
process if the situation should occur. This could include, but
certainly is not limited to, providing statistical reports and
copies of test results.
